Polypod found very near St Paul's Cathedral
in the heart of London
I am grateful to the secretary of the London Natural History Society for alerting me to the existence of this fern growing so close to St Paul's Cathedral - I had personally never seen it growing anywhere else in the London area.
When I went to look for this fern again a few weeks ago I found to my dismay that the building it grew against was encased in scaffolding and plastic sheets, with a wooden palisade around the bottom. The fern is hidden behind this layer and may well not have survived. What a shame.
